Mobile viewing for websites is an important factor when we develop our clients websites. We make certain to always test our clients development sites on both Android and Apple iPhones. The question always remains, which is the best phone of 2014, the Galaxy S5 of the iPhone 5S? What type of user are you? It is a defining question in the tech industry. Each of these platforms offers a different approach to mobile viewing, and even suits different types of people.
A cool feature of the Galaxy is that it’s waterproofed, not to mention it’s enormous 5.1-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 1080p resolution. The iPhone has only a 4 inch display so visually/ side by side you will notice the difference in resolution and screen quality.
Another important factor for us mobile browsers and website gurus, is the phone’s storage. the iPhone does not have a memory card slot, so you need to carefully choose the model carefully depending on how much space you think you need for you apps & music etc. The Galaxy has a memory card slot so you can always upgrade your memory.
When it comes to CPU and RAM, once again the Galaxy S5 wins in this area with a 2.5GHz, 2GB RAM over the iPhone’s 1.4GHz, 1GB of RAM. For us at Pearl White Media, we constantly use our iPhone for photography. We are a bit disappointed with the 8-megapixel back camera compared to the 16-megapixel camera on the Galaxy 5S.
Overall, we are Apple users and lovers so would be a tough switch to move to the Samsung product line. Although, we do find they have put together an excellent product. For us the biggest disadvantage is the screen size, we much prefer a smaller phone. We are going to wait and see what the iPhone 6 will have to offer and go from there in terms of our next web design business phones.
